This is a story about two girls, Randy and Evie. Randy is a white seventeen year old from a lower class and lives with her lesbian aunts who have a pride flag hanging from their front door. She isfailing her classes and can'tstand school.Evie is also seventeen,she is black and popular atschool. She starts the movie with a boyfriend and gets good grades and loves classical music and poetry. They fall in love. The colours are bright, the fashion isso cool (it was the 90s, of course), The girls fall in love easily, without conflict and it is refreshing. Seeing lesbian love on screen without a dark overtone or continous trauma inflicted on the characters is revitalizing. Randy'sfamily are supportive, homosexuality is not some freak disease. Homophobia isn't ignored of course but the attitude towardslesbianism is not one of fetishistic. This is probably largely due to the lesbian diretor. The film's credit's state, "For my first girlfriend, may our relationship finally rest in peace."

Watch this if you wish there were more carefree lesbian coming of age movies with pretty girls holding hands and nice cinematography. It will make you feel happy to be gay, orif you're not, it'll just make you happy!
