Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) is a musical comedy about Hedwig, a transgender woman from East Germany. She moves to the US and pursues a career in music, her band plays rock and punk, always with a theatrical flare. She falls in love with a teenage boy and teaches him about music, he goes on to become very famous with no credit to her. This movie explores heartbreak, gender identity, fame, credit, power and friendship. The costumes and makeup are extremely cool, Hedwig is definitely a flawed character but she has a charm that makes you want the best for her. The music and the animation are also phenomenal.
