Granting Denzel Washington his second Oscar win, Training Day features a young Washington as a crooked narcotics officer who takes on the task of training the younger, dedicated cop, Jake Hoyt. Throughout their day of training, Hoyt is exposed to the unethical dealings that his mentor is engaged in, and grapples with whether or not to follow in his footsteps, or to uphold his moral integrity.
